Warren County Coroner Phil Fisher has reported that Leroy (Tuffy) Crowder, 64, died Tuesday evening of injuries suffered only a few minutes before in a crash on East Main St., in Attica. Fisher said the pathology report from Dr. James McFadden listed cause of death as internal bleeding. It was first thought that injuries from the accident were not the cause of death, but that he had possibbly suffered a heart attack. He died 45 minutes after his car hit a parked truck on Main Street. Mr. Crowder was eastbound on Main street when his auto veered across the street into a parked truck owned by Dean Foster of Attica R 1. He was assisted from the auto by a passerby and was sitting beside the heavily damaged auto when the Dale Maus ambulance arrived. He was removed to the Community Hospital. Damage to the Foster truck was listed by Attica police at about $1500. Mr. Crowder was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Yeddo, the son of Milton and Florence Crowder. In March, 1933, in Attica, he married Arizona Elmore, who survives. He attended school in Yeddo, and has lived in Attica most of his life. He had been employed as a trucker. He was employed by National Homes and Smith Construction Co. He served in the Navy in World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerald (Lovetta) Cookie Scott of Attica; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Kruger of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Juanita Lidester of New Richmond, Mrs. Geneva Keller and Mrs. Irene Rayphole, both of Kingman, five grandchildren and a great grandchild. Two brothers preceded him in death. Services will be at the Dale Mause Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Melvin Nead officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday. - jlr
